Ashley Carson | Managing Director

I established Millenium Insurance Group with the goal of creating a company where insurance advisers operated in the best interests of their clients. I am proud to say this is exactly what Millenium Insurance Group offers today. We are an insurance company where advisers take the time to understand our clients’ needs and only ever do what is best for them. As a result, we are privileged to have many long-term clients.

As an insurance adviser myself (I am a member of the Sovereign Qualifying Financial Entity) I have experienced the personal satisfaction of knowing I have done the right thing for my clients when it comes to claim time. My primary motivation is safeguarding the future financial wellbeing of my clients in both their home and business lives. If the right insurance plans are put in place, our clients not only have peace of mind they, their families and business interests are protected, they receive the knowledge their future is secure.

Away from the office, I enjoy travelling with my best friend and wife of 34 years, Suzanne. Together, we raised our seven children and are now the proud grandparents of 13 grandchildren and great grandchildren.

I look forward to welcoming you as a client of Millenium Insurance Group.

Leelee Li | Insurance Specialist

Peace of mind – that’s what I want my clients to feel when they come to me for insurance. Throughout my 15 years in the insurance industry, I have always worked with my clients to ensure they have the best protection and the best chance for a claim to be accepted should they need it. It is this drive to protect my clients and my pursuit of ensuring they have the best protection plans in place that has helped me achieve my status as one of New Zealand’s leading female insurance advisers.

My team handles everything on behalf of my clients, from updating payment details, updating their addresses and personal details, submitting claims and booking specialists appointments.  Liaising with my clients and the insurance companies and medical providers is my specialty.

I am proud to always act in the best interests of my clients to protect their health and their greatest asset – the ability to earn. I place great emphasis on establishing a relationship with my clients and taking the time to regularly review their policies. The understanding I gain of my clients’ individual circumstances combined with my knowledge of multiple areas of the insurance industry, means I can provide my clients with optimal outcomes.

My passion for the insurance industry and securing my clients’ future has seen me become the only female insurance adviser in New Zealand to qualify as Top of the Table (TOT) of the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) in 2018 and the first and only adviser in New Zealand to achieve the highest award in the Asian financial insurance industry, the IDA Platinum Award.

I am also committed to the communities I work in and am an avid supporter of Canteen, Cure for Kids, Hope for Pearl and other charity organisations. I have also been volunteering for the Asian Animal Foundation for many years.

I love reading, travelling, playing the game of Go and one of my hobbies is collecting Amber.

Kevin Graham | Managing Director/Senior Insurance Broker

Based in Hamilton but with clients all over New Zealand, I have spent almost 50 years in the insurance industry. I believe face-to-face communication is key in this job, and genuine care about what a client requires is essential.

I specialise in all classes of Fire and General insurance, from business owners and farmers wanting to manage their commercial risk, to domestic clients insuring their house, contents, boats, cars and specialised vehicles.

When advising on insurances, I like to see the business setup and hear the direction the company is heading to make sure the right facets are covered in the right way. In this, I offer my clients peace of mind that their business and assets are covered correctly. I also pride myself on offering convenience, knowledge, professionalism and a high standard of support when it comes to making claims.

After hours, I enjoy cars (particularly classic cars), fishing and spending time with my family.

Peter Singh | Senior Risk Adviser

Control, choice and certainty – this is what I believe you should experience when taking out insurance. And that’s the approach I take with my clients here at Millenium Insurance Group. As a senior risk adviser, I make sure you have control of your own destiny, and I help you gain this control through my 22 years of experience in the insurance industry.

Born and bred in the Waikato, I’m a keen sports fan (rugby and cricket in particular), an enthusiastic foodie, I enjoy travel and I love history. All of these interests, combined with my knowledge of insurance, enables me to connect with my clients. That connection is important because to devise the best protection plans for you, I try to take the time to understand your situation. At Millenium, our insurance plans are needs-based because that secures you the best protection.

Outside of the office, family time is important to me. My wife, Kuljeet, a senior science consultant, and I have brought up our two sons, Devon and Shaan. Both are keen sports enthusiasts both on and off the field like me. I have also spent time coaching junior cricket.

Something a lot of people don’t know about me is that I am quite superstitious – so Friday the 13th is always an interesting time with me!

I look forward to connecting with you.

Areas of Insurance: Group Insurance, Family Insurance, Business Insurance – key person, business debt, shareholder protection, Health Insurance

Richard Woodcock | Senior Broker

I have enjoyed being in the insurance industry for over 40 years, and I appreciate what is important to business people. I have been, and still am, in business myself, which allows me to empathise with Clients when it comes to covering their business.

My approach is to ask business people what they want and craft tailored business cover to suit their unique situation. By evaluating my Clients’ needs, I can apply the appropriate cover to fit.

I am able to provide protection plans to businesses of any size and my mandate is to always arrange what is best for the Client. I appreciate how busy people are, and the value of time and will save Clients just that whenever and wherever I can.

Outside of the office I am an outdoor bowler, occasional golfer and enjoy watching almost all sports.

Let me look at tailoring an insurance plan for your business.

Areas of Insurance: Business Insurance, Domestic Insurance, Personal Insurance, Income Protection, Health Insurance, Shareholder Protection

Simon Gower | Business and Personal Risk Adviser

The business environment is both an exciting and rewarding one, but as every business owner or self-employed professional knows, it has its own challenges, risks and occasional tricky situation! I have experienced all of these as a business owner in the retail and wholesale market, which means I understand the importance of having the right protection plan in place for your business.

I came to the insurance industry via a corporate sales and management career and, combined with my strong passion for business, it has given me an edge when it comes to preparing insurance plans for my clients operating in this specialised market. I know how quickly the business climate can change, and how dynamic operations can be, which is why I deliver a tailored solution to my clients.

My commitment to connecting business owners with the right insurance is reinforced through my membership to the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT), the Premier Association of Financial Professionals. Membership is based on an ethical approach to the insurance industry, something I take great pride in having.

Outside of the office, my wife and boys get about 95% of my time. The other five percent is filled with the Warriors (die-hard fan!), ocean swimming, classic cars (my 1954 Ford is my baby) and growing and collecting bonsai trees.

I look forward to protecting your business with the right insurance.

Areas of Insurance:  Business Insurance – key person, debt protection, shareholder agreements, ACC restructuring; insurance for self-employed individuals, group schemes.

Mark Crean | Business and Personal Risk Adviser

With more than three decades working in the Insurance and Financial Services Industry, I possess the experience and expertise to uncover my clients’ needs and provide a professionally designed Risk Insurance solution for them tailored to their individual situation.

My previous experience as a Stock and Station agent in the 1980s has also enabled me to connect with clients in the rural sector and identify their unique requirements for insurance. I also deal extensively in the small business and family protection markets.

I pride myself in providing my clients with regular reviews to make sure their insurance programme is still appropriate as their circumstances change. I strive to create a connection with all my clients and am always there to help at claim time.

I am a family man. My wife Alison is a Careers Adviser at a local high school and we have two sons, Liam and Reuben, who are both currently university students. I have a passion for sport, especially rugby and cricket, and I enjoy keeping fit through cycling, swimming, walking and playing golf.

Areas of Insurance:  Rural, Business and Family markets.

Life Cover, Trauma Cover, Permanent Disablement, Income Protection, Mortgage Protection and Health Insurance.

Harvinder Kang | Risk Insurance Adviser

Financial security and stability – that is what I want each of my clients to feel once they have the right protection plan in place. I have worked in the insurance industry for more than a decade and during that time I have seen how the right insurance can provide my clients with security for the future. That’s what I set out to achieve with each and every one of my clients and it’s why I continue to have a passion for the industry I work in.

Prior to joining Millenium Insurance Group, I worked for Fonterra. My time in New Zealand’s biggest export earning industry gave me invaluable insight into the country’s rural and primary sector as well as the business dynamics that flow into to so many other parts of our economy.

That insight has equipped me to work with clients across all areas of personal and business sphere to create a comprehensive insurance plan for their situation. The insurance landscape is unique and it gives me tremendous satisfaction working with my clients, knowing that I can provide insurance services that are tailor made to their needs.

When I’m not meeting with clients or reading through lengthy insurance policies, I enjoy playing golf and supporting my children’s’ sports team. I can also cook a mean Indian lamb curry and an equally mean Indian barbecue.

I look forward to providing you with financial peace of mind.

Areas of Insurance: Family and Income Protection, Critical Illness and Health, Business Insurance – Shareholder protection, Key person, Debt protection.

Ceeann Russell-Finlay | Insurance Adviser

I am passionate about empowering my clients with the right insurance plans for a secure future. I know the responsibilities so many of us face in our daily lives and how having the right protection plan can empower you to deliver on these responsibilities.

When families are trying to navigate their way through a crisis, whether it is critical illness, loss of income or death of a loved one, I want to make sure they can do so without the added burden of financial worries. For business owners and the self-employed this can mean ensuring their businesses continue when they can’t through disability or illness.

My colourful and diverse work history and life experience enables me to add real value to my clients. Prior to joining the insurance industry, I worked in a range of industries, from hospitality to image consultancy, medical, dairy and construction. An employee of both small firms and large corporates, a business owner and years of being self-employed have provided me with a wealth of understanding to call upon when it comes to considering the needs of my clients and the risks they are exposed to.

I feel privileged to have the opportunity to speak in depth with my clients, knowing they are entrusting me with some of their most personal and private information. I genuinely care about every one of my clients and treat every client relationship with the care and respect it deserves.

I pride myself on going the extra distance for my clients, I make sure I get the best outcomes for them and I am there at claim time to support, advocate and assist them. I maintain contact with my clients to ensure we have annual reviews, so their policies are kept up to date and relevant as their lives and individual circumstances change.

I love to travel, I am an avid “listener” of books (Audible is my favourite app next to Spotify!), I am continuously trying to learn “more” and I like to keep fit enough to stay healthy. I like a balance of both quiet and social time, and my favourite time is with family and friends.

Areas of Insurance: Family Insurance, Health Insurance, Life Insurance, Trauma Cover, Mortgage Protection

Andrea Liddle | Insurance Adviser

After spending six years in the industry and gaining a National Certificate in Financial Advice (Level 5), I enjoy finding out what drives my clients – what’s important to them and those close to them.

I genuinely enjoy sitting down face to face with people to discuss their insurance needs and working with them to formulate recommendations to ensure their life and lifestyle are comprehensively protected at a cost-effective price.

I don’t believe there’s a panacea or silver bullet as far as insurance goes, so any policy needs to suit current circumstances. I provide clients with relevant information about which insurance would be the best fit for their current situation and am always aware everyone has a budget.

I understand everyone has different goals and values. Because life doesn’t always go to plan, we need to make sure our loved ones are protected – and that’s my specialty.

Outside of business hours, I love spending time outdoors, whether that’s mountain biking, travelling, exploring new foodie hubs or spending time with my three adult children and partner.

Gary Robertson | Risk Insurance Advisor

Born and bred in Wellington and with a background in the motoring industry, my wife and I moved to the Waikato on the day the Springbok game was cancelled in 1981.

In 1995 I joined NZI Life and have worked in the financial services industry since then. I am enthusiastic about assisting my clients to make the best decision possible when it comes to their insurance needs.

I am currently a member of the Financial Advice New Zealand, ensuring I continue with professional education to keep me up to date with evolving industry trends. I am also a Past President of Financial Advisers (IFA).

I have been an active Rotarian with the Rotary Club of Waikato Sunrise since 2005 and was awarded a Paul Harris Fellow in 2012 and 2018. As a Rotarian, I adhere to the principles of Rotary and look to see that all my actions, business and personal, fit within the Four Way Test:

  1. Is it the truth?
  2. Is it fair to all concerned?
  3. Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
  4. Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

Outside of work I am a keen golfer (although a bit of a hacker), and my wife and I love water sports. Over the years we’ve held positions within the Karapiro Water Ski Club, including my three-year term as President in the early 90s.

We also enjoy walking and I’m avid fan of Formula 1 motor racing and also the Australian Supercars.

I have been working in the insurance industry since 2016. Thanks to my education background – double majors in Finance and Information Systems at Massey University – and five years with ASB Bank, I have achieved outstanding results in the first two years of my insurance career. I am a member of Million Dollars Round Table (MDRT) and a recipient of the International Dragon Award (IDA) and Ascend Award.

I believe success comes through diligence, knowledge and caring and it’s important to me that my clients feel they are taken care of.

I provide personalised and affordable family risk plans that suit each client’s particular circumstances and I review these regularly.

I can be contacted via phone, Wechat and email and pride myself on timely responses.

Steven Jiang | Insurance Adviser

As an insurance adviser, I focus on my clients’ future. Through conversations with my clients, I build up a relationship of trust, so they know they can confide in me about their situation. This relationship built on trust is important in enabling me to provide my clients with the very best protection plans that will ensure optimal outcomes for them.

I enjoy meeting new people and establishing a connection with each of my clients. My approach is to really explore their needs because only then can I give them advice on the insurance that is right for them. I do this in a sincere and caring way because at the end of the day it is their future we are protecting and their health and livelihood we want to provide security for.

I’m a highly motivated and organised person but I also appreciate the value of taking time out. When I’m not in the office you’ll find me hiking, swimming, fishing or playing badminton.

Advice and support – both are essential to providing good insurance and it is these two pillars that I base my client relationships on. I have been working in New Zealand’s insurance industry for more than 10 years and during that time I have seen the importance of providing my clients with sound financial advice. It is also extremely satisfying to see my clients make the right financial decisions knowing they are making an informed choice.

My approach to insurance is one of longevity. I focus on taking proper care of both the immediate and long-term needs of my clients. By taking the time to truly understand my clients’ individual situations, I can better advise them on the policies they need for their future protection. I can also ensure my recommendations match my clients’ needs and wants.

Steve Peddle | Risk Insurance Adviser

Based in the sunny Bay of Plenty, I work with many families to put in place protection plans for their future. As a father of three children myself, I know how important that peace of mind is in the event that anything should happy to you. Families do create a different dynamic and extra responsibilities you never had before, but many of these can be protected with the right insurance.

I have been working in the industry for more than 10 years and during that time have built up a large client base delivering tailored protection plans. I enjoy having the opportunity of meeting with clients here in Tauranga. Getting to know them and discovering what they want insurance for is an integral part of my role, but once I’ve been able to connect all the pieces, determining the right combination of insurances is relatively straightforward.

Outside of work I enjoy fishing, watching my children play their various sports, and dabbling in some hobby farming. As a committed Christian, I am compassionate, caring and considerate of my family, my clients and my colleagues.

Jason Salle | Insurance Adviser

I’m a proud King Country native, having lived in Taumarunui my entire life. It’s a region which I am passionate about as it provides a central location and more outdoor opportunities than most.

Following secondary school I moved into the meat industry as a meat inspector for 17 years. During this time, I also spent brief periods working at Whakapapa ski fields.

I am an avid sports competitor and fan. Over the years, and along with my two older children, my main participation has been with squash, rugby and snow skiing. I have also served on several administrative committees and boards within these sports. In 2011 I was appointed as a Justice of the Peace for New Zealand to serve the community.

With personal experience in both death and serious illness of key family members and close friends, I have developed a huge sense of the importance in having the right risk insurance plan in place. Getting the best quality advice is crucial and I pride myself on providing my clients with risk solutions centred around their needs.

I look forward to meeting and dealing with clients in the King Country/Central Plateau and surrounding areas.

Kirsty Evington | Compliance Manager/ Personal Assistant

I began working at Millenium Insurance Group in 2011 as the receptionist, and have worked my way up to compliance manager/personal assistant to Gary Robertson and Andrea Liddle – with the birth of my son and maternity leave along the way.

I am the person behind the scenes, when an adviser is unavailable, I step in to help where I can. As compliance manager, I take all information gathered during a client’s appointment, and enter it into at he Statement of Advice Portfolio, outlining the client’s concerns, goals and what kind of insurance best suits them and their family’s needs.

When it comes to clients, my approach is to be kind and friendly. I like to start and end conversations on common ground, whether that’s the weather or children! I also have a great lolly jar, which has won me a few hearts this year!

I grew up in Raglan with the beach at my door, so being outside with nature is a favourite pastime for my son and I.

Kara Benfell | Personal Assistant for Ashley Carson

At Millenium Insurance Group, what really makes our advisers stand out is the value they place in establishing relationships with our clients. That stems from Millenium’s founder, Ashley Carson. As his personal assistant, I have witnessed the importance Ashley places on building a rapport with those around him, not just staff but clients as well. It’s why I enjoy working for Millenium Insurance.

As personal assistant for Ashley, I am responsible for supporting him and other advisers, preparing policy information, basic alterations and administering claim documentation. There’s not a lot I don’t know about insurance or the process. I believe insurance is an integral part of all our lives but it’s essential to have the right insurance for your individual situation.

Outside of the office, my husband Chris and I are kept on our toes by our young daughter. We love spending family time at The Mount. I’m also a great supporter of small locally-owned businesses. Sometimes my credit card balance shows just how great a supporter I am!

Rebecca Laing | Personal Assistant

There’s a real sense of belonging here at Millenium Insurance Group, I’m fortunate to be in the midst of it all. The team of insurance advisers here are genuine and work with compassion, care and credibility. It’s a privilege to support them all.

I joined Millenium Insurance after many years working at AIA New Zealand where I headed up the New Business team. I was also responsible for working on an AIA shared services project. My time in the insurance industry has instilled in me the importance of having a flexible approach to decisions. This flexibility ensures our team can deliver bespoke protection plans to our clients.

Outside of the office I love to travel. Prior to my time in the insurance industry, I spent 10 years working in the travel industry and it’s fair to say I caught the travel bug as a result so I am always planning the next adventure. I enjoy fishing, boating and being at the beach and spending time with family and friends.
